President's Welcome Message

President's Welcome Message

Dear Fellow Members, Friends, and Partners,

Welcome to the official website of Nanyang Pho Leng Hui Kuan!

This year, we are filled with immense joy as we celebrate the Association’s 85th Anniversary. Over the past 85 years, through both challenges and triumphs, our Association has steadfastly upheld its mission of fostering unity among our community and preserving our cultural heritage, serving as an important spiritual home for fellow members in Singapore.

To mark this significant milestone, we are proud to launch our new website. We hope it will serve as a more convenient and interactive platform for our members and the wider public—showcasing our rich activities, deep cultural traditions, and the evolving progress of our Association.

As we look toward the future, we especially welcome young people to join our family, so that together we can carry forward the Teochew spirit, blending tradition with modernity to create new achievements.

We sincerely thank you for your ongoing support and warmly invite you to join us in writing an even glorious chapter together.

Woo Chee Chay
President
Nanyang Pho Leng Hui Kuan

Association Introduction

Nanyang Pho Leng Hui Kuan was founded in 1940. Its origins trace back to 1938, when pioneers such as Zhang Boxian, Li Zibai, Chen Rongqing, Chen Ziheng, Yang Yuanqu, Fang Zisong, Su Chengxing, and Du Shiwen initiated efforts to unite fellow Puning natives in Singapore and provide mutual support. After two years of preparation, a temporary clubhouse was set up in a rented premises along Rochor Road, marking the official establishment of the Association.

Mission: To foster friendship, strengthen unity, promote welfare, serve the community, and remain loyal to the nation.

In 2017, the Association moved to its current home—Pho Leng Building at 26 Lorong 27A Geylang. This nine-storey building is the Association’s fifth premises and represents a new chapter of growth and development.

Today, the Association has nearly 600 members spanning three generations of Puning natives. Over the years, it has actively promoted Teochew culture by offering classes in Teochew opera, music, and calligraphy. Through these cultural efforts, the Association enriches the lives of its members, nurtures community bonds, and serves as a cultural anchor and spiritual home for the Puning community in Singapore.
